Some people on Twitter are claiming that Bob Geldof made sexist comments about women in his speech yesterday on the Scotland referendum. I was there, and he didn't. Here is the actual full quote of the relevant part of the speech:

"I know your dander is up. But if I may address this to the women of Scotland. You all know that when mens' dander is up, logic and reason fly out the fucking window. It's certainly right to let your heart inform your head when you vote. But don't let emotion – that natural sentiment which is easily perverted by the political mind – don't let that get in the way of your head. Don't vote with your dander basically. See, patriotism is a natural, healthy, instinctive thing that we all have. It is the sense of who we are, and amongst the place and the people where we belong. But it is the base metal of politics, because it is so easily manipulated into some perverse political ideology. It's always a trick when they bring up this Englishy, Scottishy, Irishy stuff."

In other words, to quote a fellow Twitterer, he made some playfully rude comments about men. To assume that the rest of the quote was aimed at women doesn't make sense, given that he's just talked about mens' dander being up, and goes on to say "Don't vote with your dander basically".
