Every day, lions are ripping gazelles to shreds, not to mention all the terrible stuff happening to humans, but for some reason the above story is particularly disturbing. I think it's because pelican-on-pigeon violence is so rare. They're both meant to be relatively peaceful animals. It's like hearing that a cow has stabbed a horse, or that a penguin has shot a reindeer.
