Nov. 6th, 2006 10:31 pmIn a dream last night, I thought up a trick that could be played on a Catholic priest. What you do is when he's giving you the red wine that's meant to turn into the blood of Christ, ask him "What year is this blood of Christ?". He'll either be fooled into giving you the year of the wine (therefore admitting it's not really the blood of Christ), or have to say "31 AD".
I find the whole wafer/wine thing very odd (even compared to the rest of it). A quick search of Wikipedia indicated that there are two competing theories about how it 'works' - Transubstantiation and Consubstantiation. Perhaps the new generation of particle accelerators will discover which one is real.
P.S. I also just read on Wikipedia that there was a religious movement in the 14th century called "Lollardy".
